She wants – and does seem – to be doing everything. Speaking with Michelle quickly reveals her passionate love of story-telling and a deeply held belief that stories can fundamentally change the way we see the world and ourselves. Michelle is best known as a screen and stage writer, but she is also an actress, opinion columnist and sought-after public speaker. She uses her own stories, as well as ones she dreams up in her head, to help audiences feel less isolated and alone.An Asian-Australian woman who grew up as the youngest of five children, Michelle Law’s childhood played a critical role in shaping the woman she would become. Her mission is to offer opportunities to people who might not otherwise get them and her weapon of choice is the written word. By sharing untold perspectives, Michelle is giving a new generation of young Australians the chance to see their stories depicted on stage and screen. It’s an experience that was largely denied to Michelle while she was growing up. She is helping to redefine the Australian story, while discovering the depth and breadth of it for herself at the same time.
